Breath isn’t going to pay the mortgage:
Finding your centre during times of chaos
The other day, I had a conversation with a client who was going through some
chaos and uncertainty in her life. I said to her “One breath at a time. One step at a time.”
She shot back with “Well, breath isn’t going to pay my mortgage.”
I wanted to shout back to her but I didn’t. I took a breath myself and said, “No, breath won’t pay the mortgage, but when you can take a breath and ground yourself, it is a tool to help gain clarity through the chaos. It’s your choice. Do you want anxiety and chaos, or clarity?”
She giggled and said, “Tell that to my husband.”
By keeping the focus on the chaos in life, we feel stuck and out of control. Yes circumstances happen beyond our control. Yes bad things happen to good people. Yes the s**t hits the fan.
BUT the only thing you can control is your reaction and choices when this does happen.
How to do this?
It takes a second or two to find your centre. Pause before you charge in full force. Take an inhale and exhale. Feel your feet on the ground. Ask yourself: How do I need to respond here?
· Shift the focus on the problem to learning from the situation.
What you focus on will grow. Do you want to continue seeing the problem, or would you like a solution? Ask yourself: What am I to learn about myself?
· Recognize your responsibility in the situation.
What you focus on, what you think, how you act, what you feel IS your choice and will create the reality of your experiences. Ask yourself: How am I creating/contributing to the chaos? Is this a reoccurring pattern?
· Know the choice is up to you.
Make decisions based on the type of life you want to be living instead of reacting to what life is throwing at you. Ask yourself: What do I really want? Does my life reflect what I truly desire to be living?
When you have the answers, take the time to plan on moving forward with your inspired action to make the changes you need to live the life you truly desire.
Breath does pay my mortgage.
It gives me calm to find clarity in order to get the next steps to help build my life,
wealth, and health.
