TRAVEL GUIDE

How Beach Camping Energized My Soul

Unlike many people who grew up camping with friends and family, I never could. As a city dweller, there are tons of other activities that take your time. Camping sadly never feels like the most convenient recreation to indulge in, especially if you have never tried it before.

The first time I camped there were a lot of things that I learned from experience. By the second and third time, I knew how to prepare for the weather, meals, and bedding. If you love to travel, you will absolutely fall for beach camping. A spot under the stars with the sound of the surf rushing into the shore as you go to sleep, plus a chance to hit the waves right after breakfast is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime. I can say that beach camping changed my life.

It’s a Break from My Regular Life
It would be amazing if everyone could take a break every few months and travel the world. But the reality is that for most folks, traveling often would cost a fortune. But that does not mean that people cannot depart from their 9 to 5 routine life for a little bit of rejuvenating time. Beach camping is more than just connecting with nature though that is a big part of it. It only costs the trip you take to the beach, and to reserve a spot. The next few days of camping are as simple as starting a campfire and gazing up at the stars. If you want something a little more exciting and your budget allows it, you can always check out the best most mesmerizing spots for beach camping.

So instead of trading your concrete jungle for another but a different one, try beach camping.

Not Just a Break from my Routine
I realized that I was stuck in this endless loops of browsing between apps in my free time, and every other time I was bored with what I was doing. Instead of socializing I would just take to my newsfeed, and that was as good as talking to the person next to me. Fresh updates never lasted, so I was at it again and again throughout the day, I really needed to disconnect from this vicious hyper-connectivity.

Beach camping was the perfect way to interrupt this and feel invigorated again. Staying in a canvas tent on the beach makes you think, and you befriend others who are camping just like you. The time spent surfing the waves or in front of the campfire recharges your mind. This means when you return to your work and routine life, you perform better. You may find that being alone with yourself in your apartment is scary. But being with yourself during beach camping is actually fun.

It helped me Sleep Better
Believe it or not but it reminded me how much I needed a good night’s sleep. I am not talking about sleeping in for over ten hours. I mean being relaxed. You feel stress-free when you wake up by the sound of waves. When I returned from my trip it actually stayed with me for a while. I have learned that beach camping is a must at least once a year as it helps reset my circadian rhythm.

It’s a Good Way towards Mindfulness
For many people, the plain old meditation never works. I tried but I could never just breathe in and meditate before work, there were a ton of things buzzing through my head for the day ahead. At night I would mentally prepare lists for the next day. Beach camping triggers mindfulness. When you are there you just slip into it, it is easier with the lack of social media too. The stillness of the outdoors is the perfect setting. You hear gulls overhead, and the rushing water everywhere, Believe me, these sounds do not interrupt but enrapture you instead. You don’t feel sleepy. Instead, you feel at peace.

When people often talked about living in the present, I figured it was not thinking too much about the future that you cannot control. During my camping trip, I learned to pay attention to the present moment and cherish it to the fullest.

It feels like home when I am beach camping. Remember that you have to do it right to get the most out of the experience. Do not rely on or processed food. Prepare good food. In fact, you can cook things over the campfire if you like as well, which adds to the experience.
