The Flower Blooms

The flower blooms at the exact moment it is right for the flower to bloom.
No amount of coaxing or singing, loving or healing, can make the flower bloom faster.
It is only when the moment is right.
The human tendency is to make things happen, force change,
force healing, force growth.
True growth, true change, only happens when the moment is right
and there is nothing you can do to make it happen faster.

Future Recollection

There's something special about the times you remember
vividly as part of the tapestry of your life.
That moment as a child you made your first friend,
the first time you held your newborn baby, the day you met your spouse,
the moment you heard about a relative dying, or the feeling of being ill,
the feeling of sand in your toes and the summer sun on your skin.
They are vivid not because they were anything different than
any other moment, minute, time of your life.
They are vivid because there was emotion.

A Unicorn Encounter

I traveled upon a stream lite path
into a wooded beauty.
Lined by trees on all each sides,
the mist of rain fresh in the air,
the smell of green aloft, I turned and
saw a unicorn standing there, shyly hidden in the fog.
And I, in awe, stood silent.
There are some things that words cannot express.

Just Be

It is without fault that each of us is destined to walk our own paths.
As much as we feel for one another, or want to take the pain from our children, or wish we could take their place, we cannot.
They also cannot take ours.

Happiness

There are more than a few ways to happiness.
One can enjoy the present moment and all the rich feelings, thoughts, senses, and emotions within.
One can enjoy the past and the nostalgia of good times, poignant memories, and lost loves.
One can enjoy the future and the hopes, dreams, and possibilities yet to come.
All are unique in their attributes, their attentions, and their meanings.
Yet, all have capacity for happiness.

Natural Reactions

When the winds begin to blow and the cold shows up to shiver, the body naturally becomes hungry.
The survival mechanism to store food for the winter in the layers of fat in the body is a good one in days when food was scarce.
We still have and keep this survival instinct, even though we now have plenty of food, warmth, and shelter from the snows.
To adjust, we must consciously remind our bodies that it is okay,

The 5 Year Plan

Do you remember in high school when they would ask you about your 5 year plan?
When in college or when you met your spouse how you had a plan for when you would have children,
get a promotion, move into your dream house?
Then what happened? Life happens.

Truth

In-between the layers of reality and fiction lie truth.
What we believe to be reality is a mash up of our perceptions and actual circumstances.
What we believe to be fiction we create from the memories and experiences we have already known in our lives.
In the in-between lies truth.
